You Know What They Say About Time: 3 simple ways to make the most of your time

time /tīm/ a point of time as measured in hours and minutes past midnight or noon.

Happy New Year, beautiful people! The first official week of 2021 is coming to an end. I don't know about you but I was determined to start this year off right. After a long winter break, it can be hard to get back into the groove and very easy to slide back into old habits. We all do it..."maybe I will stay in bed for another hour" or "oh, it can wait until tomorrow." You are absolutely right you can stay in the bed for another hour, but it will be even harder to get up. You can wait until tomorrow, but tomorrow can easily turn into a month. How do I know this? Because, I may or may not have month old laundry making its home on top of my dryer (I know I'm not the only one).

I learned and adopted valuable practices during 2020, and one was learning how to use my time effectively and efficiently. From working a full-time job to transitioning to a full time homeschool mom, capitalizing my time keeps me sane. I am not saying that you will get everything done on your list or you won't be tired at the end of the day...but you will have some major wins and feel like a BOSS Mama (or Papa). Here are 3 strategies that help me capitalize my time.

Make a list: Prioritize Your Top 5

Look, you can't and will not get everything done on your long list. And, that is the problem! Your list is too long and needs a major BIG CHOP. Start the year off right by prioritizing. Prioritize 5 things you want to get done during your day, but be realistic. You want this list to be concise and narrowed down. If you are thinking, "clean the entire house" should be on the list. NO. More like clean the living room or dust the windowsills in the living room. Concise. Keep it simple and straight to the point. Adding too many unrealistic goals will overwhelm you and you will feel defeated before you even start.

Make A Schedule: Plan Your Day and Write it Down

Investing in a planner is a game changer! A planner is the perfect place for you to keep track of lists, schedules, and upcoming plans. Schedule outdoor priorities like running errands and appointments on the same days. Yes, you'll have a lot of running around to do, but you'll get it done on the same day. The goal is to complete your list everyday. Check off those boxes! So, if you plan on cleaning your home then focus on 5 things to complete around the home. Planning content? Okay, schedule those plans on the same day. Remember be effective and efficient.

It's All About Time: Set a Timer

My last employer was big on THIS! There was a timer for everything. Honestly, it was one of the most valuable and beneficial lessons I have learned to date. It's a gem. Remember that concise list you wrote down, I want you to delegate times for each action item and then set a timer. Make sure to give yourself reasonable time to complete each task. Full disclosure, this is going to piss you off for about a week or so. But, eventually you will get used to it and you will push yourself to get the job done. Y

You know what they say about time...once it's gone you can't get it back so use it wisely.

"In all of our deeds, the proper value and respect from time determines success or failure."- (Malcolm X)

I'm currently loving this amazing planner from The Vibe Planner. It has everything you need to keep you on track. It's definitely a vibe!

As always, love and live naturally.
